On Visas and Terrorism

Good news! We have just received our visas from the British High Commission in Ottawa. They are good from now until January 2007, which gives us much more freedom for scheduling flights and returns than we had even hoped.

We are still waiting to hear about my (Michael's) student loan application, and we will need to look into other financing, especially for that little matter of actually getting all of us to England. But God has provided for us at each step as we have needed provision, and we are trusting that this will be no different.

On another note, no doubt you have heard about the recent bombings in London. This is a tragic and horrific event, but not exactly surprising given the current state of the world. As we think about going to England soon in light of these events, it's easy to be fearful, to wonder about our family's security and safety while we're there. But our safety is not guaranteed living here in Canada; perhaps we are at a lower risk for terrorism, but we are not immune to the myriad possibilities of violence and tragedy. Ultimately, our security is only found in God, who holds us in his hand, and allows all things in our lives--both good and evil--to accomplish his will, in his people, in his world...
